A STUDY ON WATER QUALITY PARAMETERS OF SANJAY SAGAR RESERVOIR, DISTT. - GUNA (M.P.)
PRADEEP SOLANKI, BIPIN BIHARI COLLAGE, JHANSI (U.P.)
The recent study on water quality parameters of Sanjay Sagar Reservoir based on Physico- Chemical Parameters shows that there has been a great degradation in the level of quality of water. The study is based on the study of parameters such as Temperature, pH, DO, Carbonate alkalinity, Total alkalinity, Total hardness, Calcium hardness, Magnesium hardness, Chlorides, Reactive silicates, and Sodium & Potassium contents of water samples from different sampling points. This study is also focused on the effect of these physico chemical parameters on fisheries population.
In the present investigation samples were collected from the Sanjay Sagar Reservoir which is situated near the Raghogarh Tehsil in District Guna (M.P.), 47 kms away from city. It is situated in District Guna at longitude 77-14-30 and latitude 24-22-30. The study of water quality at different sampling stations shows that there has been an undesirable and unsuitable change in water parameters. As concerned with fish production, it has also declined. An increase in pH was also noticed. It was found at all places water was unfit for drinking however it may be used for domestic purposes. So there is a need for an effective and quick step in this field.
